Strategy

Sun Tzu wrote in “The Art of War”:
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.”

Strategy is outward looking; strategy is what you thing the competitive world will be doing around you.

Tactics are inward looking; those things that your organization can do to better compete in the future world you expect.

Organizations overly rely on tactics that are ungrounded by any comprehensive strategy, to try to accomplish their goals with futility.

How is that different?

Leading with a strategy requires taking a step back, identifying your main goals and objectives, creating a strategy that incorporates multiple smaller tactics, and then executing on those tactics over time.
